Can confirm that the staff are really friendly and helpful so, although there were no dogs there when we visited (really quiet), it would be worth a try. And, if not, there are plenty of open-air Roman remains very close by that would certainly be dog-friendly. Plus, there is a small garden at the rear of the Legionnaire's museum that I am fairly sure would be dog friendly also.
