Israel’s military said it has begun stationing troops in “all combat arenas” throughout the country as its attack on Iran continued and it braced for retaliation.

Iran launched a counterattack on Israel the same day Israel hit Iranian nuclear sites and military bases with airstrikes on June 13.

The widescale overnight strikes have ratcheted up the direct confrontation between the arch foes to an unprecedented level following years of war in the shadows that burst into the open when Iran's ally Hamas attacked Israel in 2023.
