Like any good thriller, Ad Vitam was full of so many great twists and turns, including one in the early part of the movie that legitimately caught me by surprise. And now I have to talk about it and why it made an already great action flick into one of the best I’ve seen in quite a while.

Rodolphe Lauga's "Ad Vitam" arrived on the streaming service on Friday, January 10, and it's become one of the streamer's most popular titles in the days since. At the time of writing, "Ad Vitam" is Netflix's No. 1 movie, fending off the likes of family favorite "Despicable Me" and the "Rush Hour" trilogy, which has taken over the top 10.

French thriller Ad Vitam has earned mixed reviews despite claiming the top spot on Netflix 's most watched movies this week. Starring Guillaume Canet as Franck Lazarev, a former federal agent who escapes an attempted murder and must find his wife Léo (Stéphane Caillard), kidnapped by a gang of armed men.
