State leaders and family are urging a full investigation into Norfolk sailor Angelina Resendiz’s death, questioning the Navy’s response and transparency.

The Resendiz family has issued a statement following the recovery of a body in Norfolk by NCIS about 12 days after 21-year-old sailor Angelina Resendiz was last seen at Naval Station Norfolk. The Norfolk medical examiner is working on identifying the body and cause of death.

The dead body that was found in the Broad Creek neighborhood is confirmed to be Naval Seaman Angelina Resendiz, according to a statement released from the family.
