Seth Altman, 33, who was last seen in Memphis, Texas, around 80 miles south of Amarillo. He is sought in connection with the injury of a law enforcement officer.

Recipients of the blue alert were warned to look out for 6-foot-2 Seth Altman, but told not to approach him and instead call the authorities. The system is designed to warn residents of potential public safety issues, including the more common AMBER Alerts or Silver Alerts for missing people.

Texans woke up to a Blue Alert issued for Seth Altman who investigators say is linked to an incident involving a deputy with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Blue alerts are one of several public safety alerts issued by the state when authorities need help finding someone.
