Mourners filed into Houston's Church Without Walls Saturday — some wearing black, others in vivid shades of blue — to honor former Mayor and U.S. Rep. Sylvester Turner at his funeral, as a montage of the prolific orator’s speeches played in the sanctuary.

On Saturday, late Houston mayor and congressman Sylvester Turner was laid to rest during services at the Church Without Walls.

Turner, who most recently served as a United States Congressman, died last week at age 70 from enduring health complications. What he left behind was a lasting mark on the state’s largest municipality and a legacy as a Texas lawmaker who consistently pushed boundaries.
