The point is that Ballerina doesn’t need John Wick. And, outside of a single save, Eve Macarro doesn’t need John Wick. Thanks to the efforts of Ana de Armas, she’s a character with as much charisma fueling her as Keanu Reeves’ Wick has in his corner.

Looking like a cross between her “Addams Family” character, Morticia, and her head witch from “The Witches,” Huston chews the scenery as well as the fight scenes destroy it—she’s a real hoot. It’s The Director’s job to train Eve to use the rage she feels over watching her father die as the conduit for being a successful assassin.

Ana de Armas learned a lot on the set of Ballerina and is learning even more for her next project, Deeper, in which she will co-star opposite Tom Cruise.
