The Boston Red Sox traded slugger Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants in a blockbuster deal on Sunday. Boston received pitcher Kyle Harrison (who was optioned to Triple-A), pitcher Jordan Hicks, outfielder James Tibbs III and pitcher Jose Bello in return.

Before finalizing the five-player Rafael Devers trade Sunday, the Red Sox reportedly had their eyes set on a power-hitting Giants prospect and were rebuffed.

It figured that when Buster Posey made his first major trade, it would be a biggie. So stunning as the news was that the San Francisco Giants had dealt for Red Sox slugger Rafael Devers, it also made sense.
