Three parties say they have reached a deal to form a new centrist Austrian government, five months after an election was won by a far-right party that later failed in an attempt to form an administration.

After a five-month wait, the Alpine nation's new government is set to be sworn in after the third member of a proposed coalition, the liberal NEOS party, approved the deal.

Reisinger, leader of Austria's small, liberal Neos party, called on party members to make history on Sunday and support what she sees as a move supporting liberal democracy as they voted on whether to join a proposed coalition government.

Austria's first three-party coalition government will be ready to start work in the coming week after the liberal NEOS approved the coalition on Sunday. It has been a long haul - five months, to be exact.
