Two days before New Orleans jail escape, Derrick Groves allegedly made a FaceTime video call to Darriana Burton, a former Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office employee, who's now facing a felony charge of conspiracy to commit simple escape.

A former Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office employee and girlfriend of New Orleans jail escapee Derrick Groves is accused of aiding in the planning of the escape and setting up of phone calls where Groves discussed fleeing with a third party, according to police records.

When Derrick Groves, 27, was convicted in October of killing two people, his sentence was supposed to bring relief to New Orleans and renewed confidence in law enforcement.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Nearly a month after Derrick Groves and Antoine Massey escaped from the Orleans Parish Justice Center, NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick is making a direct appeal to the fugitives and offering help if they turn themselves in.
