The NYPD has launched an unprecedented initiative to increase safety on NYC’s subway system. As part of a six-month program, hundreds of officers are now riding overnight trains on the A, G, J, and L lines from 9 p.

A teenager who was subway-surfing Tuesday evening fell from the train and onto the tracks in the Bronx, miraculously surviving the treacherous trick, police said. The 15-year-old male tumbled from the northbound 5 train onto the tracks between Gun Hill Road and Pelham Parkway at 5:50 p.

According to the NYPD, the victim, who’s between the ages of 15-18, was taken to a hospital with injuries to the head.
