The PGA Tour and the PIF shared a framework agreement on June 6, 2023, with a goal of combining commercial operations under a new for-profit entity later dubbed PGA Tour Enterprises. The parties initially stated a deadline of Dec. 31, 2023, to finalize the agreement, but that window has long since expired without a completed deal.

At this week’s Dunhill Links, which features both PGA Tour and LIV Golf stars, Rory McIlroy hinted at when pro golf may come back together.

Playing just behind the two golf leaders is McIlroy, who is teamed up with his father Gerry, as well as tournament boss Johann Rupert and Louis Oosthuizen. Prior to the first tee shots on Thursday morning, McIlroy was spotted chatting with Al-Rumayyan as the pair had big smiles on their faces, before sharing an embrace.
