President-elect Donald Trump will tap Brendan Carr as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, he said in a statement on Sunday. Carr is currently the top Republican on the FCC, an independent agency which regulates interstate and international communications.

Carr has vowed to take on “censorship” by Big Tech companies in Project 2025, which laid out a conservative agenda for Donald Trump’s second term.

Carr, the senior Republican on the agency, has of late embraced the president-elect's ideas about social media and tech.
