Alex Ovechkin scored two goals, tying an NHL record, before leaving with an apparent leg injury to propel the Washington Capitals to a 6-2 victory over the Utah Hockey Club on Monday night.

McBain and Nick Bjugstad scored for Utah (7-8-3), which has lost five of seven (2-4-1). Connor Ingram allowed four goals on 13 shots being replaced early in the second period by Karel Vejmelka, who stopped nine of 11 shots in relief.

Alex Ovechkin scored two more goals to move closer to Wayne Gretzky’s all-time mark, but his status is in question after a collision forced him out of the game.
