Carroll's first draft pick in Las Vegas is the Heisman Trophy runner-up. The Raiders were impressed by Jeanty's competitive qualities

Pete Carroll says the Las Vegas Raiders were "fired up" to select running back Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 pick of the 2025 NFL draft. Carroll attached a gif of former Seattle Seahawks star Marshawn Lynch while celebrating the Raiders' Thursday night pick.

With his low center of gravity, elite contact balance and ability to take runs the distance, Jeanty elicits comps to LaDainian Tomlinson, Maurice Jones-Drew and Sanders. He and Sanders are the only FBS players to ever top 2,600 rushing yards in a season. Jeanty also led the FBS with 151 missed tackles, 57 more than the second guy.
