Over the course of the original anime, audiences watched as threats ranging from the Dark Kingdom to the Dead Moon Circus terrorized the Sailor Guardians, not to mention the world at large.

A giant screen at the back of the stage displayed colorful images, dazzling effects and subtitles while the performers sang in Japanese. I would say that the performance was half play, half concert.
