Masters chairman Fred Ridley said Monday that Tiger Woods will design a nine-hole short course for the Augusta Municipal Golf Course, which is also known as "The Patch."

Woods was commissioned by Augusta National to design The Loop at The Patch, a nine-hole, par-3 layout at Augusta Municipal Golf Course just 5 miles from the home of the Masters.

Tiger Woods was playing golf with Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley ahead of the Masters two years ago when Ridley mentioned the club's soon-to-be-announced project to renovate a municipal course that for nearly a century had been an affordable haven for Augusta's working-class and Black golfers.
