The prosecution has rested its case and the defense is now taking its turn in the murder trial of Jason Chen, who's accused of killing 22-year-old Jasmine Pace and stuffing her body in a suitcase in November 2022.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — The Hamilton county medical examiner testified in the Jason Chen murder trial that he's performed more than seven thousand autopsies. He told a jury of 6 women and 9 men what he found during the one in the spotlight in this case: That of Jasmine Pace.

Text messages between Jason Chen and Jasmine Pace showed no arguments or disagreements between them prior to her savage murder at Chen's North Chattanooga apartment on Nov. 23, 2022, it was testified Friday. Detective Zack Crawford said out of just under 1,400 texts there was no indication of acrimony between the young couple.

Jason Chen is charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the 2022 death of 22-year-old Jasmine Pace.
