They’re etched in College World Series history: 2007, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2019 — the five times Louisville baseball reached Omaha. Now they’re adding 2025. But this one feels different.

With five of the eight teams in Omaha entering the NCAA College World Series with shorter than 10-to-1 odds, baseball fans are in for an unpredictable CWS.

The CWS opens Friday with the Sun Belt Conference's Coastal Carolina (53-11) playing the Big 12's Arizona (44-19) in a rematch of the 2016 finals won by the Chanticleers. No. 8 national seed Oregon State (47-14-1), an independent until the Pac-12 ramps up again in 2026-27, meets the ACC's Louisville (40-22) in the second game.

Louisville’s sixth appearance in the College World Series will begin Friday night at 7 when the Cards face perennial powerhouse Oregon State. ESPN will have the television coverage.

The Cardinals bring speed and aggressiveness on the base paths, power in the heart of the lineup, and a hard-throwing ace at the top of the rotation.

Louisville and Murray State both took the diamond to practice in Omaha Thursday ahead of their first-round College World Series matchups.

Elsewhere in the Super Regionals, Arkansas dispatched defending national champion Tennessee in two games and it's off to Omaha with UCLA, who defeated UTSA in two games. LSU won its opener against West Virginia and will look to close out the series Sunday evening.
