The district attorney prosecuting a man accused of setting fire to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s official residence said Friday that investigators are assessing whether religious or political bias could explain why he expressed “hatred” for the Democratic leader.

The suspect, Cody Balmer, referred to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and himself by name in the call, according to the recording.

A preliminary hearing for the man accused in the arson attack on the Pennsylvania governor's home in Harrisburg has been postponed. Cody Balmer, 38, of Penbrook, was originally scheduled to be in court on Wednesday; however, the hearing has been continued and will now be on May 28.
