Meijer estimated that a traditional Thanksgiving meal with its turkey pricing would cost $37 with all the fixings and serve four to six people. The cost is based on a 14-pound turkey plus using Meijer brand ingredients to make the traditional side dishes, rolls and pumpkin pie for dessert.

The Pilgrims at Plymouth in 1621 would have recognized turkeys in the New World because they’d known about the birds in the Old World. Maybe Pilgrims had eaten turkey meat back in their homeland, not knowing that the birds originated in the Americas.
