Safety remains the Department of Transportation’s top priority, and the state’s bridges are in better shape than they were just a few years ago, according to DOT Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto.

The Capitol Region Council of Governments is continuing work on its transportation road safety action plan that towns and cities can use to make streets safer.

It is near the Connecticut Convention Center and the Colt Armory. According to DOT, the viaduct work intends to “upgrade the structural elements of the bridge to current safety standards.
