The FTSE 100 is set to shoot higher at the market open this morning after President Donald Trump‘s tariff climb down on Wednesday. London’s blue-chip index closed off three per cent yesterday, before Trump sent global markets soaring with a 90-day pause on his ‘Liberation Day’ levies.

The FTSE 100 surged at the open on Thursday, after President Donald Trump backed down on new US tariffs. London’s leading index jumped more than six per cent – adding nearly 500 points in early trading.

Financial markets in Asia and Europe have staged a partial recovery despite China hitting back at a fresh wave of threatened import tariffs by China.
