The Minnesota Golden Gophers men’s hockey team will look to try and get back to their winning ways when this host the Wisconsin Badgers in a Border Battle matchup this weekend at 3M Arena at Mariucci.

Wisconsin’s defense will be battling high-scoring forward Jimmy Snuggerud and top point producers Connor Kurth and Matthew Wood. The Gophers also rotate their goaltenders frequently but primarily start Liam Souliere, who holds an impressive .923 save percentage.

The visit by the Badgers comes in the midst of what could be the Gophers’ most challenging stretch of the season. After a lopsided loss and a tie last weekend at Michigan State, Minnesota is 19-6-3 overall and ranked fourth nationally in the latest polls, but the Gophers have gone a pedestrian 2-3-1 in their past half-dozen games.

Grace Grocholski scored 17 points, Mallory Heyer posted a double-double and No. 23 Minnesota pulled away in the second half to beat Wisconsin 71-50, handing the Badgers their eighth straight loss.
