Authorities charged inmate Quandre D. Thomas after he assaulted a detention officer, and cocaine fell from his clothes.

On April 16, 2025, a deputy with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident at the Dare County Detention Center involving an inmate who assaulted a detention officer.

Deputies say that during the altercation between 30-year-old Quandre Thomas and the officer, a small, clear plastic bag fell from Thomas’s clothes.
