Despite being in the minority for this opinion, I can't hate Netflix for making Dante weak, since it makes sense according to the Devil May Cry games.

Cry reboot delivers high-octane action, early 2000s flair, and a fresh take on Dante’s story, blending chaotic battles with sharp animation and fan-focused storytelling.

Cry ruined Dante in the worst way possible and surprisingly, they didn't need Mary Arkham aka Lady's character to do that.
