Brothers Erik and Lyle Menendez, jailed for life for the 1989 murders of their parents in Beverly Hills, are set to be given a hearing on Thursday to determine whether they may be eligible for a lesser sentence and a path to parole after more than three decades behind bars.

A long-awaited resentencing hearing for Lyle and Erik Menendez ground to a halt Thursday just hours after attorneys arrived at the courthouse in Van Nuys, partly over a risk assessment report on the brothers that was was not intended for this week's court proceeding.

The resentencing hearing for Erik and Lyle Menendez hit another road block as a judge ruled to resume court on May 9 pending two motions that still needed further review.
