The Menendez hearing is now under way. It started about 15 minutes late, possibly because the LA District Attorney was giving a press conference outside the court. The brothers have joined via a video link from prison. They are incarcerated near San Diego at a prison just north of the border with Tijuana, Mexico.

During last week’s proceedings, a prosecutor displayed a crime scene photo of Jose Menendez dead on a couch, covered in blood.

A two-day hearing on whether the brothers' life sentences should be reduced was postponed after a filing from prosecutors late Wednesday.
