According to investigators, around 2 p.m., the driver of a box truck was traveling in the far right lane of the Twin Span when he hit a flatbed truck from behind for unknown reasons.

The impact caused the box truck to veer off the bridge and into the water. The driver of the box truck managed to escape and was rescued by a nearby boater. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
