Nintendo Switch 2 Video Offers Closer Look at Joy-Cons
Nintendo’s short video offers a closer look at the Switch 2 Joy-Con, showcasing how the controller works and attaches to the console.
Nintendo has been hiding how the Switch 2 Joy-Cons come apart in plain sight this whole time, and it's just as simple as I thought it would be
Nintendo has been showing off the new back button of the Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers and how it works ever since the first official reveal, it's just been hiding on the official Nintendo Switch 2 website this entire time.
Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Cons compared: How do the new controllers stack up against the ones we know?
Going against what we saw from some leakers, the Switch 2's Joy-Cons don't seem to feature curved backs like a lot of today's handheld PCs. At least their longer build will make it easier for folks with larger hands to grip them.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Is Changing How Joy-Cons Work
Nintendo recently revealed the Nintendo Switch 2. We're still waiting on details such as specifications, pricing, and availability, but we do know how it looks. One more detail has now been made public: a new mechanism for detaching the Joy-Con controllers.
Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con Feature Originally Planned for Original Switch
As it turns out, one of the defining upgrades of the Nintendo Switch 2 is actually an old concept developed for the original Nintendo Switch.
The Switch 2 Joy-Cons snap onto the console in a whole new way, but Nintendo has been considering using magnets since the OG Switch, as its producer confirmed almost 8 years ago
The Switch's producer was "particularly excited" about the idea at the time, but it didn't work well enough back then
Nintendo video reveals how Switch 2 Joy-Cons are removed
The animation confirms that in order to unlock the Joy-Cons and remove them from the system, players will have to press a button that is tucked under the trigger. This button appears to disable the magnetic charge that reportedly attaches the controller to the system, allowing it to be removed.
Here’s how you remove the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons
It turns out that chunky button on the back of the Joy-Cons, positioned just beneath the ZR/ZL triggers, is what you’ll push to detach the controllers. While we obviously haven’t gotten our hands on the console yet, this seems much more ergonomic than the tiny buttons that perform the same function on the original Switch.
Nintendo Switch 2 announcement: all the news on the next console
Nintendo has finally revealed the Switch 2 — but it didn’t reveal everything. Even still, the new console looks pretty much like a bigger, more refined Switch. Sure, that’s the straightforward and expected move from Nintendo. But it’s also exactly what I’ve been waiting for.
Nintendo toyed with magnetic Joy-Cons for original Switch, but they quite literally didn't stick
