The actions sports competition and festival featuring athletes from around the world is headed to Utah for the first time.

The X Games are turning 30 and want to celebrate in Utah's capital. Driving the news: The X Games are partnering with Salt Lake County to bring a sports festival to Utah State Fairpark June 27-29, featuring the world's best BMX and motocross riders and skateboarders while honoring their history.

Salt Lake City will be hosting ESPN’s X Games this upcoming summer at the Utah State Fairpark. In a Thursday press conference, officials announced that X Games will be bringing Moto X, BMX, and skateboarding competitions to the Beehive State as part of a three-day event starting June 27.

The X Games are coming to Salt Lake City. The extreme sports league will host its Moto X, BMX and skateboarding events at the Utah State Fairpark this summer. It will take place on June 27-29 with tickets going on sale next month.

Thursday's announcement comes as X Games celebrates its 30th anniversary. It also comes a day after Red Bull announced it would host one of its soapbox derby events in Salt Lake City for the first time in June. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox called that an example of how Utah is quickly becoming a "state of extreme sport."

The National Congress of State Games on Monday named Salt Lake City as the host of the 2030 State Games of America. The biennial event is expected to bring about 10,000 amateur athletes from across the country to compete in over 40 sports and activities, according to organizers.
