U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth praised Saturday the friendship and trust that his country and Japan have developed.

Defense Secretary Hegseth, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and other U.S. and Japanese officials watched the ceremony. The battle took place 80 years ago this month, near the end of World War II.
