Between that tie and the 2018 game however, Alabama struggled against the Sooners by losing three-straight, likely the most high-profile of which was the 2013 Sugar Bowl in New Orleans where Oklahoma defeated the Crimson Tide, 45-31. The other two meetings came in Norman back in 2002, as well as in Tuscaloosa a year later in 2003.

Alabama won the first meeting with Oklahoma 17-0 in the 1963 Sugar Bowl, a game largely remembered for Lee Roy Jordan’s legendary 31-tackle performance. The teams tied 24-24 in the 1970 Bluebonnet Bowl in Houston, with the Crimson Tide’s Richard Ciemny missing a 34-yard field goal on the final play.
