It has been known that Joe Gibbs Racing drivers were restricted from participating in dirt racing for the last couple of years. Now, according to The Athletic, that has changed for the NASCAR Cup Series organization.

Joe Gibbs Racing drivers will be able to compete in more dirt racing events moving forward. On Monday, The Athletic's Jeff Gluck reported that Joe Gibbs Racing will lift dirt racing restrictions for its NASCAR Cup Series drivers.

Joe Gibbs, the former football coach who owns a NASCAR racing team, is giving his drivers more options. The racing team confirmed Monday that it will have a process allowing drivers to request competing outside the NASCAR Cup Series on dirt tracks and in other forms of motorsports -- something Gibbs has restricted.
