Trump’s first FCC chair Ajit Pai, Carr’s former boss at the agency, lauded him as a “brilliant” adviser bound for success as agency head. Gigi Sohn, a progressive consumer advocate who served as an FCC official during the Obama years and was President Joe Biden’s one-time nominee to fill an open FCC seat, also congratulated Carr.
