Angela Alsobrooks Declared Winner of Maryland Senate Race; First Black Woman to Represent the State
At about 9:30 p.m., The Associated Press called the race for Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, who defeated former Maryland Republican Gov. Larry Hogan. At an event at the University of Maryland Hotel in College Park, loud cheers and applause could be heard shortly after the race was called.
Maryland has officially elected its first Black senator, Angela Alsobrooks, in a historic win to keep the seat blue.
