Women who are aged 65 and older should continue to receive osteoporosis screenings, according to an advisory panel’s updated recommendations published Tuesday in JAMA.

Screening to prevent osteoporotic fractures also is recommended for postmenopausal women younger than 65 years at increased risk; evidence is lacking for screening men.
