Despite some interaction between the two sides, University of South Carolina head women's basketball coach Dawn Staley is reportedly not in the running to be the next head coach of the New York Knicks.

The New York Knicks ' coaching search has led them to Dawn Staley, the longtime women's coach at South Carolina and one of the most accomplished players and coaches the women's game has ever seen. South Carolina athletic director Jeremiah Donati recently confirmed that the Knicks have indeed reached out to Staley.

When Dawn Staley's name popped up on the NBA head coaching rumor mill, fans were skeptical that she would ever leave South Carolina's program. But her talking with the New York Knicks actually happened and has been confirmed by the Gamecocks,
