Recently, an American Airlines plane and a United Airlines aircraft collided at the Chicago airport, which has stirred discussions on social media. Following the incident, both the airlines and official authorities released multiple statements explaining the details.

There have been several incidents in recent months in which airplanes have either collided with one another or with other objects and vehicles at airports, and one more has been added to the list at Chicago O’Hare involving planes of American Airlines and United Airlines.

Hundreds of passengers were moved from their flights at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport Wednesday after an American Airlines plane clipped a United Airlines aircraft. According to a statement from United Airlines,

American has noticed an increase in passengers being inadvertently left onboard the aircraft after the crew has deplaned.

According to the FAA, the American Airlines Flight 1979 hit the tail of United Airlines Flight 219 while taxiing.

An American Airlines flight's wing clipped the tail of a United Airlines flight Wednesday morning at O'Hare airport, the airlines and Federal Aviation Administration said.

"It felt like we hit a pothole. Some people felt it, some didn't. Nonetheless, a few minutes later, the pilot got on the PA and said that we had tail strike," Lewis said.
