Doug Kiker of 'American Idol' fame is dead. The 'Singing Garbage Man' made it to Hollywood, was eliminated early, then came back to sing with Rascal Flatts.

An unidentified person reportedly called 911 to say they believed Kiker suffering a drug overdose. He later died at a hospital.

A contestant who brought the American Idol judges to their feet has died. Doug Kiker was known as "The Singing Garbage Man" during his time on season 18 of American Idol. The singer and guitarist used his own life story as the basis for a short film about a garbage man who could sing.
