The New York Giants selected edge defender Abdul Carter with the third-overall pick in a move that could inadvertently signal the end of the Brian Burns Era.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The 2025 NFL draft kicked off from Green Bay, Wisconsin, and the New York Giants took edge Abdul Carter from Penn State with the No. 3 selection of the first round and traded back via the Houston Texans to get Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart at No. 25. This Giants traded picks No. 34, No. 99 and a 2026 3rd-round pick.

The New York Giants are building a defense that will feature a gauntlet of pass rushers. Using the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Penn State star Abdul Carter, the Giants added a cornerstone piece to the defense to work alongside Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns.
