Column: Raider Nation's excitement for Jeanty is palpable
Moments before NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced the Raiders' first-round selection Thursday night, a dull roar crested into cheers and, yes shrieks, deep in the heart of the Raiders' facility. The Raiders had their man. And the excitement wasn't just at team headquarters.
Why the Raiders are excited to add Ashton Jeanty — positional value be damned
With his low center of gravity, elite contact balance and ability to take runs the distance, Jeanty elicits comps to LaDainian Tomlinson, Maurice Jones-Drew and Sanders. He and Sanders are the only FBS players to ever top 2,600 rushing yards in a season. Jeanty also led the FBS with 151 missed tackles, 57 more than the second guy.
