The selection of showroom spaces follows a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tesla CEO Elon Musk in the US last week.

Tesla has selected locations for two showrooms in the Indian cities of New Delhi and Mumbai, moving closer to its long-delayed plans to sell its electric cars in the country, sources familiar with the matter said.

Tesla’s showroom selection comes at a time when India is rapidly positioning itself as a major player in the electric vehicle revolution.
