The NFL is reportedly investigating the prank call Shedeur Sanders received as he slid to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft. As Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk explained, Sanders—who was eventually drafted in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns—said he received a phone directly from the NFL to use during the draft.

Colorado quarterback and son of Deion Sanders, Shedeur Sanders, has been the story of the draft. Before February's NFL scouting combine, the discourse around the draft was that it was a two-horse race between Sanders and Miami's Cam Ward for the top spot.

By the end of night two, three more quarterbacks were taken ahead of Shedeur Sanders: Shough (Saints), Jalen Milroe (Seahawks) and Dillon Gabriel (Browns).
