Thursday, March 27 marks six months since the storm left a hole in the Western North Carolina mountains. A group of Greensboro firefighters made another trip, as part of the efforts to refill them.

The Piedmont Triad is what locals call the region containing three major cities in North Carolina, Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point — with Greensboro being the largest of this bunch.

Kennedy told Black Mountain News that while she has spent the majority of her career working in Greensboro, she grew up in the small town of Seagrove and has spent time in Western North Carolina.
