Ray Mendoza, who co-wrote and co-directed A24’s new movie ‘Warfare’ with Alex Garland, recreated a real-life 2006 Iraq War mission gone wrong for fellow soldier Elliott Miller, who suffered a lost leg and traumatic brain injury during the harrowing incident.

For Mendoza, who co-directed with “Civil War” director Alex Gibney, the movie gives his fellow SEAL and friend Elliott Miller, injured in an IED attack, some of the memories he lost.
