A Powerball ticket sold in California won $67,275, but just missed the $238 million jackpot, lottery officials say. The ticket matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Wednesday, Jan. 8, the California Lottery said. In California, lottery prizes are adjusted based on the number of tickets sold and number of winners.

The lottery jackpot was an estimated $240 million with a cash option of $107.4 million for Wednesday night's drawing, according to the Powerball website. The jackpot was last won on Dec. 7 when a New York lottery player won a $256 million Powerball jackpot.
