The statewide nonpartisan group Right to Read North Dakota is reacting to the North Dakota Senate’s sustaining of Governor Kelly Armstrong’s veto on Senate Bill 2307. The group said that, while the bill has been defeated,

Gov. Kelly Armstrong vetoed a bill that would have required most libraries in the state to keep material considered sexually explicit in areas difficult for minors to access.

Senate Bill 2400, introduced by Axtman, is still alive in the House and would make all students in North Dakota eligible for an ESA. However, it has a heftier price tag than HB 1540. Axtman said she is going to continue to push for the bill because her goal “is still a very comprehensive ESA that affects truly all students in North Dakota."
