At least 10 people died this weekend as a powerful storm swept through a large swath of the United States, bringing widespread flooding and damaging winds to Southern and Eastern states.

More powerful winds and some snow were expected in New England on Monday after the storm brought down trees and disrupted travel across the Eastern U.S. over the weekend.

“Wet soils combined with the high winds could result in extensive tree damage,” the National Weather Service said. “The strong winds will usher in much colder air, with temperatures in the 20s and 30s and wind chills in the teens. Potential for power outages combined with the cold could exacerbate the impacts of this high wind event.”
