The New York City Democratic mayoral primary race has entered its final week with a surprise takedown of one candidate by the New York Times Editorial Board.

Second-place Democratic mayoral contender Zohran Mamdani landed several pointed body blows against frontrunner Andrew Cuomo — as the ex-governor slammed him over his inexperience during the candidates’ debate rematch Thursday.

Zohran Mamdani, the socialist mayoral candidate for New York City, is catching up to Andrew Cuomo in the polls for the Democratic primary. Mamdani, 33, is currently a New York assemblymember and has been running a grassroots campaign largely against former Governor Cuomo.
